Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Centre Director you will communicate and shape the narrative around mindfulness. You can support the OMC to deliver courses and training by producing high quality materials and skilfully using all available media channels to communicate and engage with a global audience.

The Oxford Mindfulness Foundation is a registered charity trading as The Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC) which is world renowned as an international centre of excellence.  Closely affiliated with the University of Oxford we operate within the structures of the Charities Commission, supporting and housed within Oxford University’s Department of Psychiatry.  Our shared vision enables us to work with partners around the world to work towards the prevention of depression and enhancing human potential through the therapeutic use of mindfulness. The OMC has been at the forefront of research and development in the field of mindfulness and has extended its reach to include training and education across the whole population, clinical services and engagement and advocacy, promoting the benefits of mindfulness globally.

Overview of the role

We are a globally dispersed team which operates with a core group of team members and almost 50 affiliated colleagues across the globe.  This new post holder will be mainly homebased with the option to work in the Oxford University offices on occasion.  The role is very central to the operations team and the post holder will be working closely with the operations team, reporting directly to the CEO.

We are looking for someone interested in mindfulness with a range of creative and technical skills (Graphic Design | Website | Social Media | SEO | Marketing) to support the OMC.  The role is critical to the development and delivery of our mission to improve lives through mindfulness throughout the population and across the lifespan.

This new member of the team will work closely with the operations team to produce high quality materials, maintain and develop a brand and skilfully use all available media channels to communicate and engage with a global audience.

The post holder will have technical skills and ability to design newsletters, manage a professional Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram etc, understanding of how to increase SEO as well as support a website currently on WordPress.  However, in addition to this the postholder is required to write content, therefore a good ability to write clearly, concisely is essential with an understanding of the mindfulness field desirable.

To carry out the role effectively, you will need to be experienced with Adobe, WordPress, SEO, graphic design and be a great written communicator.  Social media is a growing area for the OMC and you will be required to create interesting content from basic information such as event promotion and sharing research findings and other field developments.

The post holder will report to the Chief Executive Officer and work closely with the Operations Team.

This is a homebased post with possible travel to the OMC offices in Oxford – not essential.

Main Responsibilities

Social Media

Oversee our digital channels and ensure they are being used effectively to communicate and raise awareness of our work

Monitor, manage and schedule posts for our Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts, tailoring the content to different channels and audiences

Research and communicate developments in the field including linking to new research and programme developments

Field social media enquiries and regularly design and manage interactive engagements on social media

Create a social media advertising strategy, reacting to data and insights to maximise our impact based on available resources

Gather key pieces of comms, summarise and create newsletters

Manage mailing lists and communications contact databases

Materials

Produce and update marketing and publicity materials

Using Adobe, create and manage training workbooks, electronic versions and liaise with print teams for hard copies as required

Promotion

Manage a rolling programme of weekly social media comms to promote events based on a matrix of priority in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and the Operations Team

Create info-graphics to support dissemination of information both internally and externally

Website

Maintain the website content, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all the pages

Use insights and analytics to monitor the success of the website and suggest improvements

Update website, adding and removing pages with the existing structure

Where necessary liaising with external web developers

Salary:  OMC Grade 6.3 – £15,741 per annum (based on £30,942 full time)

Hours: 3.6 hours each day Monday to Friday (2.5 days per week)

Commencement:  30th November 2020

Contract type:   Fixed term – 12 months in the first instance
