Von has over 40 years experience working with diverse populations of children and their families.  She served as the Executive Director of Arsenal Family and Children’s Center, Pittsburgh, Pa., a Child Study Center founded in 1953 by Dr. Benjamin Spock for over 20 years.  Von also conducted international research and published four country reports on girl child soldiers sponsored by the Quaker United Nations Office and UNICEF (The Voices of Girl Child Soldiers, 2001)

Von was elected Fellow in The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards in 1992, was a 1996 recipient of the Tribute to Women Award given by the YWCA of Pittsburgh, received the Hampton High School Outstanding Alumni Award, and was a 2009 Duquesne University Honoree of the Mind, Heart and Spirit Award for community service and service to others.

Von’s role as Trustee is focused on supporting the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation to raise charitable funds via fundraising and grant capture.
