News Round-up, Sunday 26th July 2020

A review of some of our communications updates from our social media channels this last week.

 

 

On Monday we continued to share our mini-series titled ‘Meditation Myths Dispelled’ which is comprised of extracts taken from Mindfulness: A practical guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World, written by Mark Williams and Danny Penman. The book is widely acclaimed and features a forward by Jon Kabat-Zinn. It can be purchased alongside other reliable resource materials by clicking here.

 

 

On Tuesday we took the opportunity to share the above quote from Mindfulness: Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Psychology, written by Christina Feldman & Willem Kuyken. We will continue to signpost to more resources via our social media feeds and hope that you find these posts both insightful and useful. On Wednesday we introduced our new online programme designed for experienced mindfulness teachers looking to specialise in teaching mindfulness in the workplace. We continue to offer our free weekly mindful practice sessions. They are held every Wednesday evening, 7pm – 8pm BST, via Zoom, require no prior mindfulness experience and provide the opportunity to be part of the OMC community. There is a participant limit set at 500, meaning we can comfortably accommodate all who attend. We look forward to welcoming you to a session soon. On Thursday we announced there were still a few remaining places on a 2-day workshop that forms part of the 2020 online summer school. Yesterday’s Mindful Read articles include an interview with Barry Boyce and Sharon Salzberg about attention, resilience, anger, and the need to be kinder to ourselves and the world. The second piece looks at how reconnecting with the outside world can be stressful and overwhelming and offers 5 guided meditations for softening feelings of anxiousness and calming panic.
