KEYNOTE FEBRUARY 2023

Our next keynote is on Wednesday 01 February 2023 19:00 – 20:00 UK time.

Join Richard Burnett (Co-Founder and Chair), Ben Chalwin (Head of Training) and Emily Slater (CEO) from Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) as they look back over 12+ years of experience in the UK (and internationally).  This talk will also cover reflections on Myriad and mindfulness in schools exploring where next for mindfulness with children, young people and those who care for or work with them.

SHARING FROM THE OMF

With thanks to academics in the field, we are sharing research with the OMF community.  You can read more from a 2022 paper – Effectiveness of a mindful nature walking intervention on sleep quality and mood in university students during Covid-19: A randomised control study by clicking on the image below.

One of the interesting takeaways from this paper is that mindful walking in nature did not bring additional mental health benefits to participants relative to those who walked an urban environment, however findings contribute to the evidence-base on the effectiveness of outdoor mindful walking interventions for enhancing mental health.

This week we also like to share a second interesting mindfulness-related paper: Efficacy of Eat Breathe Thrive: A randomized controlled trial of a yoga-based program. Unfortunately, this paper is not open access but you can read the abstract here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1740144522001231?via%3Dihub

This week’s quote comes from Noah Levine. Noah is an American Buddhist teacher and author.

This week we are very fortunate to have Ruth Baer, clinical psychologist, mindfulness researcher, and OMF teacher and trainer, reading an extract from her own book, Practising Happiness. We hope you enjoy.
