NEWS UPDATES

A message from the KU Leuven Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences: It is with great pleasure that we can announce that on May 8th, the KU Leuven Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences in Belgium will award an honorary doctorate to Emeritus Professor Mark Williams from Oxford University for his exceptional and transformative scholarship in three areas of clinical science on depression: memory, suicide, and mindfulness.

Preceding the evening academic session with the awarding of the honorary doctorate, the faculty organizes an afternoon symposium on depression with three cutting-edge keynote talks by Dr. Tim Dalgleish, Dr. Ruth Baer and Dr. Olivia Kirtley, and a closing talk by Mark Williams on depression. Each keynote talk will cover one of the three areas of depression science in which Mark Williams’ work has been, and still is, hugely influential.

You can attend the afternoon symposium and/or the academic ceremony with conferment of the honorary doctorate in real life or via livestream (see here for more info: https://ppw.kuleuven.be/ppwcontinuo/aanbod/depression-a-story-of-hope)

Exploring the concept of when it comes to building the habit of meditation, questions about how much to practice (and how to stick with it over time) may leave you shrugging your shoulders instead of relaxing them.
