Weekly Update 5th November 2022

Welcome to this week’s update: a summary of everything we’ve shared on social media throughout the week.

With thanks to academics in the field, we are sharing research with the OMF community.  You can read more from a 2021 paper -Mindfulness meditation training effects on quality of life, immune function and glutathione metabolism in service healthy female teachers: A randomized pilot clinical trial by clicking on the image.

For our book reading this week we have Sally Bolton, Comms and Fundraising Officer, reading from Shannon Harvey’s The Whole Health Life. Sally says “I find this book interesting not only from a mindfulness point of view, but also for the way it takes a wholly holistic look at health.” Click on the image to listen to Sally’s reading.

This week’s quote comes from Jon Kabat-Zinn who is internationally known for his work as a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher engaged in bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society.

There are four opportunities to complete a Mindfulness for Life Course in November. The Mindfulness for Life programme offers mindfulness practices and cognitive-behavioural techniques in ways that are intended to be accessible to all. It guides participants in how to apply this learning in everyday life both to manage what is painful and difficult but also to cultivate qualities such as compassion and equanimity. It offers a different way of living that supports people to work with challenges, including recurring patterns of thought and behaviour that create suffering, but also to savour life and to flourish. Mindfulness for Life is an in-depth programme intended to cultivate lasting and sustainable change. For more info and to apply, please click on the image.

Are you a MBSR teacher interested in training in Mindfulness for Life (MBCT-L)? We have a teacher training start in January 2023. For more information and to apply, please click on the image.

We are also offering an opportunity for teachers trained in MBCT to learn the Mindfulness for Life curriculum. For more info and to apply, please click on the image.

Letting in the Light – this new one-day workshop aims to help mindfulness teachers develop their capacity to build positive emotion experience through up-regulation of the positive valence system using mindfulness techniques (both in group delivery formats and as one component of individual treatments).

New workshop: Mindfulness-informed Cancer Care. This experiential training is for those currently working with people with cancer, who have some experience / interest in mindfulness, and would like to explore what this might offer them and their work.
