News Round-up, Sunday 02nd August 2020

A review of some of our communications updates from our social media channels this last week.

On Monday we announced that we are looking forward to welcoming the new cohort of trainee teachers to our 11 month programme commencing in September 2020. The cohort of 36 trainees represents 11 countries as our online structure increases accessibility to OMC programmes. For further info and to join our January 2021 cohort please use the button below.

On Tuesday and Friday, we shared extracts from ‘Mindfulness: a practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world’ by Mark Williams and Danny Penman. For more Mindfulness resources, from free podcasts and audio sessions to books you can purchase, please click here. We will continue to signpost to more resources via our social media feeds and hope that you find these posts both insightful and useful. If there are any particular resources you would like us to share, please do comment on one of our social media channels or email the admin team.  If you are not following us and do use social media, you can follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and access our audio channel on YouTube. You will also find our series of podcasts on all the major podcast hosting platforms or here.

We continue to offer our free weekly mindful practice sessions. They are held every Wednesday evening, 7pm – 8pm BST, via Zoom, require no prior mindfulness experience and provide the opportunity to be part of the OMC community. There is a participant limit set at 500, meaning we can comfortably accommodate all who attend. We look forward to welcoming you to a session soon. The sessions use the same joining link each week, it is included here – https://zoom.us/j/508185186

On Thursday we shared the final post in our mini-series of ‘Meditation Myths Dispelled’. Thursday’s post focused on awareness and how it can be positively influenced by mindfulness. The posts were put together using content taken from ‘Mindfulness: a practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world’ by Mark Williams & Danny Penman.

The two articles we shared yesterday from our friends at mindful.org can be accessed through the buttons below.

In the first Dr Jud Brewer talks about how social contagion can influence irrational behaviour and how utilising mindfulness exercises to intervene can help us to keep calm and reduce anxiety.
The second article is a practice for observing the wandering mind and allowing each thought to pass, guided by meditation teacher Enrique Collazo.
