Weekly Update 30th September

Welcome to this week’s update: a summary of everything we’ve shared on social media throughout the week.

AUTUMN GATHERING

A reminder to join us in Oxford for our upcoming Autumn 2023 Gathering – specifically designed to support those who are training or have trained with us over the last 3-5 years.

There will be talks from Professors Willem Kuyken and Ruth Baer, a Day of Practice with Chris Cullen and Alison Yiangou, a discussion with David Treleaven on the value of Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness as well as opportunities to connect with fellow trainees, take a guided walk in Oxford and engage with the OMF team.

12-MONTH TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME

A reminder that applications for the 12-month Teacher Training Programme starting January 2024 close this week on Sunday 1st October.

If your intention is to teach a range of courses using the MBCT curricula, this programme could be right for you. This route includes all the knowledge and skills with in-depth training necessary for teaching full length and our shorter mindfulness courses.

ANNUAL RESEARCH UPDATE

Join us this November for the Annual Research Update 2023 led by Professor Ruth Baer, Director of the Master of Studies in MBCT at Oxford University. The intention of this workshop is to explore the latest research in the Mindfulness field. This professional development event supports teachers with communicating research evidence and the limitations of current knowledge with potential participants and other interested parties.

OCTOBER GUEST TALK

Join us next Wednesday 4th October for our guest talk where, this month, Susan Bögels will be discussing mindfulness, ADHD and autism.

Autism and ADHD are neurodevelopmental conditions that continue to profoundly influence the way we are in the world.

Mindfulness can help to regulate sensory overload, attention, and intrapersonal and interpersonal stress. Whether you’re a mindfulness practitioner, therapist, educator, or living with a person with autism or ADHD, this talk will provide deeper understanding and practical tools to regulate the stress that comes with autism and ADHD.

BRANCH TRAINING

This November, we are offering an opportunity for MBCT teachers to train to deliver the Mindfulness for Life curriculum in this online 2-Day Teacher Training with Andy Phee:

▪️ Learn about the theoretical and scientific foundations underpinning the Mindfulness for Life MBCT-L curriculum.

▪️ Understand the research evidence for the effectiveness of mindfulness-based programmes and how they work

▪️ Experience the new practices and exercises, guided by the trainers
