Weekly Update 1st October 2022

Weekly Update 1st October 2022

Welcome to this week’s update: a summary of everything we’ve shared on social media throughout the week.

SHARING FROM THE OMF

Our sharing of knowledge from others work in the field this week is a quote is from Joseph Goldstein, co-founder and guiding teacher of Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts.

Sally Bolton, our Communications and Fundraising Officer, read a passage from The Art of Breathing by Danny Penman. You can listen to Sally reading the passage on YouTube by clicking on the image.

With thanks to academics in the field, we are sharing research with the OMF community. You can read more from a 2021 paper – Mindfulness meditation training in an occupational setting: Effects of a 12-weeks mindfulness-based intervention on wellbeing, by clicking on the image below.

SOCIAL EVENINGS WITH THE OMF

On the last Friday of each month from 19:00 – 20:00 (UK time) we will be offering a ‘Social Evening’ with guests from around the world joining our mindfulness community.

These monthly sessions are designed to bring the community together once a month with a range of music, comedy, poetry and other online, free events with a mindfulness theme.

Our first session is on Friday 28th October 2022 from 19:00 – 20:00 (UK time) with Adam Bernstein who writes, produces and performs his own music and is active freelance bassist in New York City.  We will gather and explore what kind of music we can make after a short meditation and can chat about quieting the judgmental thoughts that may or may not arise. Active contribution is purely voluntary, feel free to simply come along and listen if you’d prefer!
